Terskel Bench

A quiet companion for the first and last moments of the day. The Terskel Bench combines a sculptural slatted frame with open storage and a soft upholstered seat, creating a place to pause as you leave home and to rest as you return. Its name, TERSKEL, means threshold in Norwegian.

TERSKEL means threshold in Norwegian: the line at the door that we cross every morning and every evening. It is where the day begins, with the simple ritual of putting on our shoes, and where it ends, with the relief of taking them off and finally being home. The Terskel Bench was designed to live exactly in that space. Its rhythmic slats frame the piece like an open doorway, while the warm natural wood at its core and the soft upholstered seat invite a moment of calm between the outside world and the comfort of home. A functional piece shaped by the Nordic belief that everyday rituals deserve beauty. Pairs perfectly with the Koto Console, completing a welcoming entrance.

On the island of Crete, overlooking the Aegean, this luxury hotel was designed from the ground up by Længsel and furnished throughout with the brand's own collection, a seamless meeting of Nordic serenity and Mediterranean light. In the guest suites, the Terskel Bench sits at the foot of the bed; its name, Danish for threshold, captures that quiet moment of arrival. Across the rooms it appears in several versions of the same design, some open and sculptural, others with a hinged door in the left compartment upholstered in Kvadrat fabric for discreet storage. Built from the brand's signature wooden slats and crafted in sustainable birch, it is both sculptural and functional.
